Custom optical filters begin with your specification
Custom optical filters are filters made to a customer requirement rather than selected from a fixed published table. On this site, the custom route applies across the listed filter lines, and it is the route to use when a documented specification does not cover your wavelength range, size, or application, or when you need a filter set assembled for a specific instrument. The custom page does not publish a specification table of its own, because a custom product has no fixed table: its specification is the one you bring to the inquiry.
The ordering steps
First, describe the optical job: what the filter must pass, block, split, or attenuate, and in which wavelength region. Second, list the parameters that decide fit: centre wavelength or wavelength range, bandwidth or pass band behaviour, cut-off depth where it applies, size and shape, and substrate material. Third, describe the system the filter will sit in, including the instrument type and, for fluorescence work, the dye or probe name from the documented list where one applies. Fourth, state the quantity basis and the delivery basis you need confirmed. The supplier can then check the requirement against the listed lines and confirm what can be made, rather than either side assuming a specification that was never stated.
What custom does not mean here
Custom does not mean that any specification can be promised before it is reviewed. It means that the specification is set by the inquiry and confirmed before ordering. In particular, a custom request does not create a documented specification for other products: a value confirmed for your custom filter is your confirmed value, not a new catalogue specification for the whole line. Likewise, custom ordering does not change the evidence rules on this site. Fluorescence and neutral density specifications remain the only documented deep specifications, and other lines remain category pages until deep specification pages are documented for them.
