Custom Prism

Custom prism ordering begins with a clear description of the prism you need. This page lists what to confirm before ordering.

Custom prism ordering

Custom prisms are prisms made to a customer requirement. Sizes are made to customer requirements, so a custom prism inquiry is built around a description of the prism needed, not around a fixed catalogue entry. This page explains the ordering steps and the items to confirm. It does not publish a model table, a size table, or a material table, because no such table has been documented for this line.

The ordering steps

First, describe the job the prism must do in your system: turning a beam, splitting or combining beams, dispersing light, or correcting orientation. Second, state the prism type or shape you need, or describe the shape if you do not have a standard name for it. Third, state the size you need and the material you need if it matters for your application. Fourth, state the wavelength region you work in and how the prism will be mounted. Fifth, state the quantity basis and the delivery basis you need confirmed. Those five steps give the supplier a checkable requirement. Where a third-party directory listing mentions prism sub-types, that listing is a third-party record, not a company specification, and it should not be treated as a confirmed company product description.
